Community Activities Program, 2008
As of this year, the Community Activities Program is no longer a contest recognizing "winners." Certificates of recognition were presented to all six of the Local Groups who submitted a community service project:
Central Florida Mensa judged the Seminole County Regional Science Fair.
Members of Mid-America Mensa helped their local public television station with their fundraising efforts by answering phones during a pledge drive.
Oregon Mensa hosted a workshop for parents and teachers of intellectually advanced students, as well as providing scholarships and raising money for scholarships.
Piedmont Area Mensa sponsored a Christmas tree in Greenville’s St. Francis Festival of Trees, helped judge the Bethel Elementary School Science Fair, provided three special scholarships, staffed the concession stand at Greenville Drive minor league baseball games and had a food drive.
Members of San Diego Mensa supported the Greater San Diego Science and Engineering Fair; participated in Junior Achievement, the San Diego State University Career Fair and the Escondido Library Scrabblethon; provided local scholarships; and made presentations for several local community groups.
Tucson Mensa provided reading material, coloring books and crayons to the patients at the Tucson Children’s Clinics.
