300 judges, 68 competitor games, and forty-eight hours of nonstop board game action later, five winners emerge victorious

The Mensa Education and Research Foundation elected Dave Remine of Luray, Va., as its new President. Remine has been a member of American Mensa for 42 years and he is the only member to have held the three highest leadership positions in Mensa.

The Mensa Education and Research Foundation has appointed Don Pendley, APR, CAE, of Bloomfield. N.J.,  as its newest trustee.

Dr. Joyce VanTassel-Baska received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Mensa Education and Research Foundation for her vast contributions to the field of intelligence in a ceremony preceding the National Association of Gifted Children Convention in New Orleans. She is the founding Director of the Center for Talent Development at Northwestern University.  The Center, which has been in operation for more than 30 years, has produced research and development in the field of talent development, along with 50 doctorates in gifted education.

American Mensa’s Executive Director, Pamela Donahoo, CAE, received the 2011 Distinguished Executive Award at the annual conference for the Texas Society of Association Executives.

American Mensa, the high IQ society, is proud to announce William Rock of North Texas Mensa as the 2011 recipient of the Gifted Children Coordinator Award. The Gifted Children Coordinator Award is given for superior service as a local Gifted Youth Coordinator, which contributes to the growth of programs or services for gifted children and/or growth for Young Mensan membership.
 

American Mensa’s top local chapters encourage activities that promote fun, intellectual experiences for members, community service, and develop good membership recruitment strategies. This year, the following chapters exemplified these qualities to receive the 2011 American Mensa Group of the Year Award.

The Mensa Education & Research Foundation is proud to announce Mensa member Dr. Raymond G. Taylor of Pemaquid, Maine is the winner of the 2011 Intellectual Benefits Award. The Intellectual Benefits award pays tribute to one member of American Mensa whose intellectual abilities resulted in a substantial benefit to society.

More than 2,000 Mensa members and guests from the world over will be heading out west to Portland, Ore. for the biggest American Mensa event of the year! Mensa members come from all walks of life, but they all have one thing in common—high intelligence and for one week they gather to share and expand that common bond.

For 40 years, the Mensa Foundation has supported the advancement of education with its scholarship and Gifted Youth programs. The Foundation has awarded thousands of scholarships to college-bound students across the United States and is currently sponsoring the award-winning Mensa for Kids Web site, www.mensaforkids.org, which provides learning resources for parents and teachers of gifted youth.

After two days of nonstop board game action in Albany, N.Y., American Mensa, the high IQ society, selected five Mensa Select winners at its 2011 Mind Games^®  event.

One of the biggest board game events in the U.S. will be taking place in the state capitol of New York, and where there are games, hundreds of Mensa members will follow.

American Mensa’s magazine, the Mensa Bulletin, received the silver award for “The Most Improved Magazine or Journal” in the Association TRENDS’ 2010 All-Media Contest. Association TRENDS is a national newspaper for association executives and suppliers.

American Mensa is proud to announce that Lisa Van Gemert has joined the organization as our new Gifted Youth Specialist. Lisa will be working with Mensa’s Gifted Youth Program which serves more than 2,000 Young Mensa members as well as provides resources for gifted youth and their parents.

American Mensa selected its top 10 Boston pubs in conjunction with the 2014 Annual Gathering, Mensa’s national event happening in Boston from July 2 – 6.
